sweet home alabama is the greatest riff ever. even kid rock said pound for pound that riff ed king wrote is the greatest song pound for pound. he then? went on to prove it. he put some shity lyrics all summer long to it, and had the song of the year. how many of these songs here could you put shity lyrics to and have a song of the year. just proving sweet home alabama is the best ever. not talking opinions here. talking facts and millions of dollars.

I absolutely love Lynyrd Skynyrd, and I hate to argue with your solid facts, but number one, Kid Rock is a nobody. What he says means nothing. Secondly, if we’re talking “millions of dollars,” I believe that the albums “Back in Black” and “Led Zeppelin IV” (just to name a few), have outsold both “Second Helping” by Lynyrd Skynyrd and “Rock n Roll Jesus” by Kid Rock, combined? by about 4 times… each. Think about your argument. Once again, no disrespect to one of my favorite bands.

i’m not a kid rock fan at all. but calling him a nobody is totally ignorant. like i said, take the music to any of these songs and put crap words to them. would you have the song of the year ? kid rock did this with? sweet home, and had the song of the year. i think that shows that sweet home has the best riff ever.

Song of the year according to whom? Its sales were not even top then that year, and it won no awards worth mentioning. Most of “All Summer Long” is stolen from “Werewolves of London.” A tiny portion of the song contains the “Sweet Home Alabama” riff. And since when was putting crap lyrics to a great riff and selling it a test of guitar? riff greatness? Anyway, the riffs are chosen by overall quality of composition, originality, complexity, influence, and lasting appeal.

werewolves of london that grove was taking from sweet home. it was nominated for song of the year. pretty amazing since the grove was taken? from a song that was 35 years old. i’m done arguing. just go to ed kings website. see wat he says, after all he’s the guy who wrote the riff. they have a whole discussion on his mesage boards bout this topic.

Extremely good pick-ups ;). You have? introduced me to a lot of songs which I had ignored. Thank you. I was expecting T-Rex’s ‘Children of the Revolution’ and Rammstein somewhere there but couldn’t find ut all. Big Maiden Fan and you have chosen the most obvious ones. Overall, Yay!
