    I considered the possibility, but the sentence didn’t imply that he was referring to the original song/artist, EXCEPT from the “nigga” reference. And considering some unintelligent people regularly use “nigga” instead of “dude” or “guy”, I suspected SpriteMinded was? reffering to the guitar teacher.

    so what do you mean by getting in the way? like playing a note at the same time say? the bass is playing a note that would be dissonant

    when comping in a large band, it’s better to play something that stands out in terms of placement- in gaps between lyrics, drum fills and most importantly with the chord progression. Look up Freddie Green in? Count Basie’s orchestra for a great example.
