@grimmenigma949 how is prog metal nu metal? what rock have you been living under? Examples of progressive metal:
Opeth, Mastodon, Dream Theater, Rush (arguably their old stuff is metal), Death (newer), Symphony X, etc. How are these even close to Nu Metal? I guess I don’t know Doom metal well enough to see riffs that fast in a genre that is supposed to be slower than most? metal genres.

@hunthell i said its the same in the sense that i dont listen to it, and to prove a point.
those bands? have riffs with these techniques, and a triplet is a triplet, so in doom metal its still the same technique, just slower.
only bands i like that you named are symphony, death and mastodon, and deaths new shit is death metal….you dont know what youre talking about
but back to the main point…. oh fuck it, i dont care. you didnt get the point so i dont want to spell it out.

@ChaosBurnsWithin No, it’s buzz for sure, you can hear it, it’s much more than pick noise, pick noise is more of a scratch and a pop and a buzz. Every note he his. I AM a metal guy, Your action is too low if everything you hit makes that sound, it cuts off the notes and the strings wont vibrate 100% fully, and that’s never a good thing, even if you? can’t hear it through the amp.

Been playing for ten years, and I agree that right hand picking endurance is an ongoing endeavor. Seems the only way to do it is sheer repetition, preferably with a beat behind you. Granted, when I’m sitting around watching stuff for hours on the internet, having a guitar in hand and just working on picking helps a ton. Multitasking!?

@tango616 you should STFU, Dave has forgotton more about guitar playing than you will EVER learn… is STRICTLY string noise being picked up by the mike….the volume is kept low so he is able to speak over? the music he is making……so you hear the acoustical “Noise” as well as the amplified tones…….

@caterpillarbob1 Wow, calm down. He has “forgotten more about guitar? playing”???, pretty sure the aim is to learn, not forget things about guitar playing if that’s what you meant. Pretty sure he’s older and has more exprerience, so get the sand out of your vagina, I never said I’m better. They could have just miced him up with a seperate vocal mic so you can hear the full amp tone, then just match volumes for the recording of the video so you don’t get any acoustic sound.
