@WyattCrow To answer your question the devices you speak of are great for practicing in the bedroom and maybe recording a couple crappy songs, they’re designed for your average guitarist who does it all as a hobby, the axe fx is a serious peice of gear targeted at pro’s and serious amatuers who would look for a return via sound quality. If you think of the big names in the industry, i doubt the producer would be happy if they brought a pod into record their next hit cd with.

Absolutely the best demo of this or any guitar processor on this site. Great playing and professional rendering. Kudos!!

I also saw many tube powered processors like Zoom and so on, can you tell me why Axe is better? Same stuff in their processors, too, but it seems like everybody is buying axefx insted of zoom or vox…. why is that?

@ashatan69 If you’re happy with just having one good amp and sound, that’s perfectly fine, of course, but if you, like me, want or need to play many different styles that require different sounds, even in one gig (or one video like this..), one amp isn’t enough. I may not need all 60 amp sims, but for me, it’s great to have that option..

“Axe-Fx Ultra can simulate around 60 different amps”….Who needs 60 different amp simulations! Most guitarists have a style they play, jazz, blues, rock, heavy metal. How many situations do they need to quickly change between ,especially playing live?

@WyattCrow Thanks! Yes, recorded directly from the unit’s line out, no hidden amps or anything here! Well, the price may be high, but I guess it costs about the same as one really good tube amp. And that tube amp can normally do one or two sounds while the Axe-Fx Ultra can simulate around 60 different amps.. And it also has loads of high-quality effects, which you would have to spend thousands to get in effects pedals/units. So if you look at it that way, it’s actually not expensive at all

That was just ridiculously awesome. I am so sick of all the videos giving everyone the impression this unit can do U2 or metal and that’s it. I love my Ultra!

Was it direct record to line-in or usual “i secretly plug it in tube head” type record?
Great vid, hombre, thanks for this test.
But the price is over the top, i mean, why have tube simulation when you can have all-tube head or twin tube powered processor, where you have real tubes for less money?
    Maybe i don’t know something?

@seandog1234 For a live setting the easiest would be to go straight to PA, like a keyboard player.. But then you have to rely on the provided monitor system (and your sound guy..) for your own listening. But I think most guitarists (like me..) would prefer their own personal amp; I use one or two Atomic Reactor FR’s , specially designed for this purpose. You could also use one or two good powered monitors, or just a regular guitar amp, but some kind of FR system would be better, I think.

@HiggsFenderU2 Thanks! Yes, I made the preset myself, I used the Tweed Amp setting, and added some compresson, short delay and small chamber reverb

@Fear3001 I’m still waiting for my Fractal Audio MFC101 (like many others..), but in the meantime I’m just using a Roland EV-5 exp pedal and a Roland on/off switch connected to the two pedal inputs on the back.

Hi, did you make that Johny B. Goode preset yourself, or was it built in, cause hi, that was unbelievable. Sounded exactly the same as his own!!!!
    Cheers,
    Matt.
